We really want Our Town Story to be an album for your old photos, to fill in the gaps in the history books of our villages, towns and cities. We would also love for those pictures to be able to help others - for instance by using reminiscence therapy in treating dementia

We're still a work in progress, and we appreciate all suggestions and observations!

Image Details

This iteration of St Martin's Church in Tipton was known locally as the 'pepperpot' (for obvious reasons!), and was opened in 1795, closing in the 1960s.

In the mid-2000s, the building was converted into a private home, and featured on the Channel 4 show Grand Designs. The upper level and dome had gone by this time, but were recreated in glass in the converted dwelling.

I mentioned in the description that the building had been on Grand Designs; you can see a short piece about it here in the Grand Designs magazine.... Happy
