We really want Our Town Story to be an album for your old photos, to fill in the gaps in the history books of our villages, towns and cities. We would also love for those pictures to be able to help others - for instance by using reminiscence therapy in treating dementia

We're still a work in progress, and we appreciate all suggestions and observations!

Image Details

This photograph taken in the Developing and Printing Department shows women retouching glass negatives. Taking photographs was becoming far more common and new techniques were invented. More people were needed to work on the processing of negatives which had previously been done in photographers shops.

The 1911 census report shows that many young women found work in this new industry. Their clothes suggest a date in the 1900s. The site is currently being offered for development, following the scaling back of Kodak's operations.
