About
Co-founder of Our Town Story. If you have any questions about the site, or wish to provide feedback, please visit the Admin forum and post in the appropriate place - we'll do our best to help you out as quickly as we can!
We really want Our Town Story to be an album for your old photos, to fill in the gaps in the history books of our villages, towns and cities. We would also love for those pictures to be able to help others - for instance by using reminiscence therapy in treating dementia .
We're still a work in progress, and we appreciate all suggestions and observations!

Flickr Image Description
The Greater Manchester Police Museum and Archives collection, which is currently being digitised, has produced a series of marvellously evocative images of policing in the past.
The latest gems to be unearthed are a series of images taken in and around Leigh during the early 1970s. They come from a set of images labelled Lancashire County Constabulary Training Slides and depict various officers on patrol in the town centre, at work in the police station or undertaking a variety of other duties.
This section of the slideshow appears to be aimed at teaching young officers the basics of vehicle related offences.
We hope you enjoy this glimpse of bygone Leigh. We will be publishing further images from this series in the near future.
