We really want Our Town Story to be an album for your old photos, to fill in the gaps in the history books of our villages, towns and cities. We would also love for those pictures to be able to help others - for instance by using reminiscence therapy in treating dementia

We're still a work in progress, and we appreciate all suggestions and observations!

Flickr Image Description

An excellent view looking across the whole building that had the Woodman Inn, residential cottages and a shop - all in this fine georgian or early victorian brick building that was later in the 1930s 'improved' by being rendered and the pub apparently extended. Halton at the time was fairly rural, before it was swamped by the expanding city of Leeds. The gas lamp on the right is superb - and unusual crook necked bracket holding the lantern to the side of the column.
