We really want Our Town Story to be an album for your old photos, to fill in the gaps in the history books of our villages, towns and cities. We would also love for those pictures to be able to help others - for instance by using reminiscence therapy in treating dementia .
We're still a work in progress, and we appreciate all suggestions and observations!

Pennington Mill (situated to the west of St Helen's Road, just before the bridge over the Bridgewater Canal), along with Stanley Mill, is listed in 1898 as having 1,464 looms, making muslins, jacconettes, cambrics, mulls and shirtings. John Yates was the manager' and secretary.
The residential street where the Mill stood, is Carders Close, alluding to the site's previous life.
This image was taken shortly before the mill's demolition in the 1970s.
