Wimborne Minster (often referred to as Wimborne) is a market town in the East Dorset district of Dorset in South West England, and the name of the Church of England church in that town. The town has a population of 15,174 (according to the 2011 Census) and is situated at the confluence of the River Stour and River Allen, five miles north of Poole, on the Dorset Heaths.

Last train into Wimborne Station

This video, taken in 1977, shows the last passenger train into Wimborne Station. Called the Corkscrew Shuttle, it was a special charter....

I find it amazing that there were trains in my lifetime, yet other than an abandoned station, and then later playing around on the embankment where the new houses are and finding the old signalling rods, I have no recollection of an actual moving train in Wimborne...
