I hadn't clocked until last night when I was looking at the Streetview image that the two buildings next to Ridgway's are still there, but the large building (closer to where the Model Town is now) has also gone.
Presumably Ridgway's was demolished in order to improve the Pye Corner junction?
Not sure to be honest, I left Wimborne in about 1965 to live in Bournemouth and it was still around then, and as far as I know was still around in 1972 but have no idea when it came down. Sad really but that is progress!!!
I was talking about it last night - we were saying how much got 'done' to Wimborne that you just wouldn't get away with now!
Oh I don't know - there seem to be a lot of complaints about the new housing going up near Walford and the loss of the allotments when they find a new "space" for the allotments to go!!!
